In Europe, the consumption of fruit from temperate climates tends to stabilize or is even declining (pears), whereas that of exotic fruit continues to grow.

Banana was first imported to France around 1900. From the 1920’s, the construction of banana boats and of maturing plants allowed for an increase of the commercial flux.

Citrus are second in terms of amounts of fruit being consumed in France. They are rich in vitamin C and are therefore useful against tiredness and colds.

Other fruits are having more and more success, like pineapple, avocado, mango, litchis, papaya, pawpaw, exotic nuts like pecan, etc.
