by Joachim Beuckelaer (around 1530-1573)

Born in Antwerp, Beuckelaer will be living in a prosperous economy
in which the sea trade occupies the first place.
Fish markets were to be one of his main sources of inspiration.
As can be observed, carp, herring and cod have been represented by the painter.
