The Egyptians discovered the ‘foie gras’ after having observed that geese devoured large amounts of grain before migrating.

Manual filling-up is still current practice to obtain ‘foie gras’, but the research workers are trying to find how to let geese fill themselves up naturally.

Every year, some 500 tons of ‘foie gras’ are being consumed in France.
