The black truffle is a very rare tuber. This explains why it is also known as “black diamond”.

Truffles are mainly found in oak forests of some Mediterranean countries ( France, Italy, Spain).

Thanks to their smelling ability, pigs and dogs are invaluable helpers of informed gatherers, to whom collecting truffles may be highly profitable.
